Full renovation of historic Oast House – Stage One: Rebuilding Oast house

Hartfield

This grade 2 listed building needed completely refurbishing. We entirely remodelled and rebuilt the interior of the Oast to create a beautiful and practical living space. We also sympathetically renovated and repaired the exterior of the building.

Working alongside the architect and Quantity Surveyor, we completed all parts of this large renovation project, including all the structural work – full underpinning of the building, building a new subfloor, replacing rotten oak framing, and reroofing. We also refurbished the Oast cowl, repointing the brickwork with lime mortar.

For the interior, we installed a limestone floor with underfloor heating, put in heritage style doors and windows and created bespoke joinery for the wardrobes, shelving and desks. We built and installed two new bathrooms (including tiling), fitted a new kitchen, and redecorated.

Outside, we fully landscaped, adding drainage for the sewage treatment system, building brick retaining walls, paths and a terrace. The outside walls were finished with lime render and a limewash coating between the oak framing.
